About Me
We are all the sum of our experiences, and since I’'ll be getting to know all about you, in my private practice or as a consultant, I’ll share a few of mine.
I am the Director of Consultation and Training and specialize as an individual, family, couples and marriage therapist/psychotherapist/counselor. I maintain a private practice in Bayshore, Suffolk County - servicing the surrounding areas of Central Islip, Islip, Brentwood, West Islip, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Babylon, West Babylon, Ronkonkoma, Brightwaters, Bohemia and Oakdale. In addition, I also provide clinical consultation, EAP, professional supervision, corporate consultations, staff training and development, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), anger management classes and speaking engagements. I have a BSW and MSW in Social Work from Adelphi University. With a diverse clinical and management background, I am an Adjunct Professor a PhD candidate and a Certified Anger Management Professional.
Most recently, I was the Director of Case Management for one of the largest human services agencies in New York City prior to which I was the Director of Family and Children Services for a Multi Service Agency in New York City. In my career I also worked with the elderly, at risk adolescents, mentally ill, developmentally disabled, autistic children, emotionally disturbed children, substance abusers and victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. My experience as a counselor/therapist in mind-body disciplines includes training in Gestalt Therapy. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Vice President of the NASW, New York State. In 2007, I was the recipient of the NASW, New York State, Excellence in Leadership Award. Other professional organizations for which I am a member include: the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the International Association of Relational Research and the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health.
I have spent my career dealing with the multi-faceted problems of a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds, differing genders, ages, sexual orientations, and socio-economic classes with differing cultural, racial and religious backgrounds, and about many different issues. Having traveled to over twenty-seven different countries (including Israel, Turkey, Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, Spain, Jamaica, Barbados, England and France), I have learnt the language and culture of these countries thus allowing me to provide culturally competent services.
As a counselor/therapist, I have used my clinical abilities to make a difference in the lives of many. I work with life issues in a realistic and compassionate manner. It is each individual's responsibility to decide whether or not to follow through on behaviors that help, rather than hurt, the balance they are pursuing.
